earth day in rome april 22 nd 2009

went to rome on april 22 nd to dj for earth day

the show was organise by natinal geographic and took place at the pizza del popollo

apparently the police counted a 120000 people....i spun from 7 30 to 8 pm to open the festivities (40000 people strong) and then bib tanga and nneka did their thing....ben harper was headlining...

it was a mad trip as i flew from LA to rome for that 30 minutes set...mans got to get that euro! u get me

was only gone 3 days....rude boy!

michel gondry and friends live los angeles april 14 th 2009

was dj'ing the event last night along side my old friend michel....

it was a great turn out...he and jon brion jammed for a bit ...filmed a minute of the green hornet theme song featuring seth rogen on the M I C ...classic ....

people waited in line for 2 to 3 hours before the doors opened , am always amazed at michel's loyal following....

my friend lisa roze is an amazing photographer..she has a unique sensibility and does all of her retouching work by hand....no computer.....www.lisaroze.com.....she resides in paris....and likes to spend time in the DR.....

everytime she comes to los angeles i organize photo sessions for her..we ve managed to get a few wicked sessions over the years.....and of course more to come.....

leon ware xmas song 2008

christmas 2008....

i stopped by leon 's house to spend some time with him and carol a few days before xmas

had a great day we eventually took a walk to the canals and watched the boat parade , which was awesome !! if you ever are in venice beach in december you have to check it out.

i filmed leon on a flip video and the volume gets a bit crazy : ) and the tele is on in the background ...its xmas for you....never perfect and yet so real.

spacek / raphael saadiq studio sessions at pookie 2002

in early 2001 raphael saadiq stopped by zanzibar on a sunday night with my friend erika , at the time garth trinidad and i had started our weekly residency there....it was jumping off every sunday night

ray liked what i was playing and we exchange info...i went a few days later to meet him at his studio and played him a bunch of new beats from spacek ...he went nuts....and we started entertaining the idea of making a record .

he flew the boys in and we started spending times at his studio and making beats and laying that shit down...and then wait for ray to come thru and lay vocals ...he eventually did and a few tracks were recorded and they are dope , but not finished and raw..just like i like them...

i could go on forever about why the record never came out and what is wrong with the music industry these days but that would take too long ..i eventually will get into it though

.....enjoy the music....

first track is pookie blue room which was the name raphael picked for the album , it features q tip , fonzworth bentley ,raphael saadiq and steve spacek .

they dont know you is the second track i ve included and it features common raphael and ledisi

both tracks are produced by steve spacek.

am new to this and the links wont show up on the actual blog so u ll have to cut and paste to access the music....
